A Sense of Place

Featuring artists Evan Abrahamson, Ashley Dull and Michele Yates, this show connects nature and a sense of place which each artist has chosen to interpret in vastly different ways! The painters in this show provide unique visual expressions and perceptions as they incorporate a variety of techniques and sites. At the same time, each one opens a window to the natural world that is sure to inspire and excite the viewer.

Cost: Included with general daily admission, which is free for members and ages 15 and younger and $20-$25 for non-members ages 16 and older. Indigenous peoples receive waived general daily admission to the Arboretum when making a reservation by calling 612-301-6775.

Art on the Square

Belleville's ART on the SQUARE has been ranked the #1 and #2 fine arts show in the nations since 2002 by The Art Fair Source Book.

Begun in 2002, ART on the SQUARE has risen to the top of fine art shows. In 2004 it was named the Best Small Town Art Fair in America and by 2006 it had climbed into the list of the top ten shows in America.

Each year between 800 and 1,000 artists apply to Art on the Square. Through the jurying process, 105 are chosen to participate. South Minneapolis Art Fair (SOMI)

A cherished tradition for over 60 years, the Uptown Art Fair is reimagining its format and location and announcing the SoMi (South Minneapolis) Art Fair in partnership with Bachman’s Home and Garden Center at their flagship location on Lyndale Avenue. The event will take place in the Bachman’s parking lot off Lyndale Avenue and features over 300 juried artists, art demonstrations, live music, and food.

This shift comes in response to ongoing reconstruction and the redesign of Hennepin Avenue, coupled with the significant rise in production costs. In light of these challenges, a smaller Uptown Art Fair was held at Bachman’s this past summer and was a huge success with both the artists and the community, with well over 50,000 art buying guests in attendance over the two-day event.  We have expanded the footprint for 2025 and will be accepting approximately 300 artists.

This exciting evolution marks a pivotal moment for the Uptown Art Fair, reflecting its resilience and commitment to adapting to the complexities of hosting large-scale urban events while addressing the changing needs of the community. The SoMi Art Fair will also serve as a critical fundraiser, helping to sustain future programming and ensure ongoing support for Uptown Minneapolis.
